Chapter 1: The Voices out the Window
So this week I was sat in my living room and I began to hear a voice. It wasn't music, and it sounded nearby so I assumed that my roommate Ben was talking on the phone in his room. But then, he comes out of his room, no phone in hand. We both had our windows open so we're wondering where this voice was coming from as it gradually fades away. Now, I'm not saying our apartment is haunted. But I'm not saying it isn't. Of course, we later came to the logical answer later that someone was talking in their car using the speakers. You'd be amazed how well sound travels up four stories. (But I think the haunted story sounds a lot more fun, right?)
The second voice wasn't all that mysterious but it was a lot more funny. Thursday night around 9:30 there was a small amount of commotion but I didn't think anything of it. Then, I heard an angry (somewhat slurred) voice yelling into the abyss:
"HEY. College students. F***k YOU! And your d@*m apartments....and your....your cars...and your...BOOOOKS!"
I was half tempted to the window to defend my honor as a low down, dirty, book owning, car driving, apartment living COLLEGE STUDENT. But I couldn't stop laughing long enough to formulate a response. This poor guy was obviously way more inebriated than I'd expect that early on a Thursday. But hey, sometimes you just need to yell at the world I guess?
Chapter 2: Close Encounters of the 5-0 Kind
Later that weekend, when I had previously scheduled getting inebriated and yelling into the abyss, I ended up on campus working on a project. As I headed back through campus town a vehicle flies through followed a second later by a BUPD cruiser. As he turns onto main street the cruiser flashes his lights and they pull into our favorite Golden Arches parking lot. So, being the nosy and curious person I am, I had to take advantage of having boots on the ground and get a close up view. They were there about 15-20 minutes. Shining lights in this guy's car, running his plates, taking his license, the whole shebang. Then...he just drives away. No ticket, no nothing. It took 4 people to accomplish all this. I felt kind of bad for the guy. There was, getting the third degree for what probably felt like an eternity. But in the end, after all that stress and worrying, nothing came of it. Afterwards, the officers just stood there, chatting it up, like nothing happened. Because in reality, they were just doing the job. And yes, they're people too.
